Exhibition and Showgrounds
Cannington Exhibition Centre & Showgrounds encourages public participation in all forms of sports, racing & recreation and cultural affairs such as arts & crafts, music & theatre, vocational courses, lectures & conferences and exhibitions & demonstrations. Centrally located on Albany Highway in Cannington it is a popular venue for many fairs, exhibitions and associations. With events almost every week you can keep up-to-date with what is on offer at the exhibition centre through their website at http://www.cahrs.com.au
Cannington showgrounds are also home to Greyhound Racing, with these grounds being the first to open in Western Australia, opening in 1974. The Greyhounds race twice a week from Cannington on a Wednesday and Saturday with regular free activities for the whole family to enjoy.
The annual and very popular Canning Show is held at the Cannington Showgrounds every November and attracts about 11,000 people over the two days. There are many exhibition, competitions, rides and stalls on offer over the two days and is a highly anticipated and enjoyable event.

Libraries
There are four libraries located within the City of Canning, all conveniently located and easy to access. All libraries have on offer many activities throughout the year, from story time to science and craft activities you can be sure to find something to suit your interests. Located within the Riverton Leisureplex it is the biggest library within the City of Canning and is open 7 days a week. With over 60,000 items for loan or reference it is easy to see why this library is so popular.

Willetton Library is the second biggest of the four libraries located within the City of Canning with about 35,000 items on offer to the public.

Located within the Cannington Leisureplex it is conveniently located close to public transport and is open 7 days a week. With free wi-fi, gaming stations, computers and a large DVD, puzzle and book collection it is a great asset to Cannington.

Bentley Library is the smallest of the four libraries located within the City of Canning and was the first library to open within the City of Canning. Bentley library is open Monday – Saturday and has a collection of 25,000 items on offer.
Schools
The City of Canning has 23 public Primary Schools and 5 Secondary Schools and is one of the highest student populations per capita in the metropolitan area. In Western Australia the minimum school starting age is 4 years old, with children starting at a Kindy level. The City of Canning is also home to Curtin University located in Bentley which had 52,993 students enrolled to study in 2016. Curtin University is the largest and most multi-cultural university in Western Australian adding to the vibrant community of the City of Canning. Recreational Facilities
There are two major indoor recreational centres within the City of Canning, The Cannington Leisureplx and The Riverton Leisureplex. Both are home to many community groups and associations as well as a local library and have become little community hubs.

Medical Centres

Located across the road from our office on Hamilton Street, Cannington Medical Centre is open 7 days a week from 7am – 10pm, opening from 8am on weekends and public holidays. It is a bulk billing centre that has several GP’s and staff that speak Mandarin. You will also find a chemist, dental, physio and X-rays services within the centre making it a one stop centre for many.
